We are delighted to announce that Simon Hickman will be joining Avalon Planning & Heritage as our new Heritage Director in Bristol.

Simon is a widely respected expert in the heritage and conservation world, coming to us after a twenty-year career at Historic England. He also brings an intimate knowledge of the South West, most recently acting as Development Advice Team Leader and Principal Inspector of Historic Buildings & Areas at Historic England’s Bristol office. His track record includes nationally significant projects such as the award-winning transformations of King’s Cross and St Pancras stations, as well as multi-million-pound heritage investment programmes, including Plymouth’s High Street Heritage Action Zone.

Simon will be taking a leading role in Avalon’s heritage service and supporting the growing demand for our advice in both the Bristol and Plymouth regions as we continue to develop our best-in-class service across the South West.

Heritage Partner Nick Bishop said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to have Simon on board; he will bring another dimension to our heritage competence and is uniquely placed to deliver our growth into Bristol and beyond. We look forward to the expertise and vision he will bring, both to the team and to our partners across the development sector.’
